Organisations are legally obliged to assess risks within the workplace, including moving and handling tasks. Musculoskeletal injuries that result from poor practice in moving and handling can be significant in term of both personal and business loss. Manual handling course

In light of the Manual handling operations Regulations 1992, this 3 hour course will provide delegates with the knowledge and skills required to safely handle objects in their particular setting.  The course is ideally suitable for staff that move and handle objects in their work environment.  Themes covered include:

04. Injuries that can be sustained during manual handling tasks

Duration is 3 hours and includes both a Theoretical and Practical Assessment.  The candidate must be fit and well to attend the course!

Children Handling – Train the trainer course

In light of the Manual handling operations Regulations 1992 this 4 day course will provide delegates with the knowledge and skills and confidence to train staff in their particular setting such as special schools, social services, and hospitals. The course consists of:

01. Current legislation
02. Manual handling operations regulations 1992
03. Risk assessment and its process
04. Injuries that can be sustained during manual handling tasks
05. Anatomy of the spine
06. Biomechanics of body movement
07. Ergonomic assessments
08. Inanimate object Manual handling demonstrations
09. Equipment issues
10. Problem solving
11. Moving and handling practical participation
12. Small manual handling aids
13. Hoist equipment, slings –theory and practical assessments
14. Demonstration of manual handling skills
15. Practical participation
16. Delivery of a theoretical session
17. Delivery of a practical demonstration
18. Practical assessment by the course tutor

The duration of the course lasts 4 days and includes both a Theoretical and Practical Assessment. The candidate must be fit and well to attend the course!

Valid for one year, upon which a one day refresher course must be completed to keep the certificate valid.

People Handling – Train the trainer course

In light of the Manual handling operations Regulations 1992 this 3 day course will provide delegates with the knowledge, skills and confidence to train others in the skills required to safely handle objects in their particular setting.

This course is particularly useful for those wishing to have a job role that has responsibility for Health & safety and also for staff who are involved in moving and handling.
