First Aid at Work
This course is aimed towards workplace first aiders in them being familiar with the principles of First Aid and to be able to recognise and deal with a wide range of conditions. Themes covered include:

04. Priorities at the scene of an emergency
05. Hypoxia
06. Unconsciousness
07. Cardiac Arrest and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
08. Choking procedures
09. Asthma
10. Fainting
11. Anaphylaxis
12. Wounds, Bleeding and Hypovolaemic shock
13. Heart Conditions
14. Stroke
15. Head Injuries
16. Epilepsy
17. Diabetes
18. Poisoning
19. Smoke/Gas Inhalation
20. Fractures
21. Scalds and Burns
Duration is 3 days and includes both a Theoretical and Practical Assessment.
The course certificate is valid for three years and a annual refresher is often strongly recommended.
Emergency First Aid at Work
The course is suitable for Emergency First Aiders and those wishing to gain a basic understanding of First Aid.
The course aims to provide familiarity of the principles of first aid so that the trained can deal with a first aid emergency effectively until help arrives. If appropriate, to also assist the qualified first aider too. The course consists of:

02. Record Keeping
03. First Aid equipment
04. Priorities at the scene of an emergency
05. Hypoxia – Airway disorders
06. Unconsciousness
07. Cardiac arrest and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
08. Choking procedures
09. Minor and major blood loss, circulatory shock
10. Minor scalds and burns
11. Seizures
12. Common medical conditions – Stroke, Diabetes, Heart Attack
The duration of the course lasts 1 day and is a continual assessment.
The course is valid for 3 years and a annual refresher course is strongly recommended.
First Aid Annual Refresher
An annual refresher course is often recommended for those who hold a current Emergency First Aid or First Aid at Work Certificate.
The aim of the course is to provide a qualified first aider to practise and update their skills during the three year period. The HSE strongly recommends a refresher session once every year during this three year period. The course consists of:
1. Update in any changes to legislation or guidelines
2. Unconsciousness
3. Cardiac Arrest and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – any updates
4. Choking procedures
5. Blood loss and shock
6. Practical bandages and dressing application
7. Review of any medical emergencies as required
The duration of the course lasts 3 hours and is valid for one year.
First Aid at Work – Re-qualification
This course updates the first aid skills for people who need to renew their statutory first aid at work certificate and whose existing certificate is still valid.
It is suitable for those wishing to renew their valid FAAW Certificate by updating and refreshing knowledge. The course consists of:
